Using Watec 120N video camera to photograph the Sun

18/4/2015

I used the opportunity to use the Watec 120N video camera to video the Sun in white light through the Skywatcher Equinox 120 Pro Refector on HEQ5 Pro mount, and then used Registax 6 software to stack the frames.

In order to reduce the light intensity to an acceptable level and to get nearly whole disc on the chip, I had to use 2 x neutral density 25% filters, a red filter, a green filter, and a 0.5 focal reducer - producing a ridiculously long series of filters!
