Sunspot 2403 from the widow-sill 28/8/2015

Roger Samworth

I normally look at the sun from the window-sill observatory with solar projection, but it sometimes difficult with strange angles, un-necessary clutter in the spare bedroom (bed, furniture, visitors sleeping in the bed etc), so I invested in a simple solar film filter to observe directly.

Needless to say the cloud god and the sunspot god conspired together to prevent sunspot observing.

However, this morning I managed to catch spot 2403 before it disappeared. For once, the PD wasn't too good, so the attached images are with an old digital camera held against a 25mm eyepiece on the 80mm f/5 telescope.

Also see  the attached image from SOHO.
