Comet Lovejoy 16/01/15

Andy Mac

Managed to get out tonight and get some shots with my 5d and 400mm giving a wider field than my last effort with the ccd and in colour as well. It took a while to get my target in the field of view, about 40minutes, even though I could see it naked eye and very easily in binoculars. The trouble was the angle it was at meant I had to lie flat on the floor to see through the camera viewfinder and I found it very difficult to line up with something that I could only just see. Still, not a bad shot after processing and a bit of tail to be seen. I think the ccd would have picked up quite a lot of tail now it is higher in the sky.
